Discovery Moments

‎"Whom and what have we known, truly? How much of our own selves have we hidden from? In this light, how can each day be anything less than a discovery?" ~ Kyle Eugene Brooks

Sometimes the why of a thing
is lost in the space between
knowing oneself and not,
where something happens
and you are horrified at your response
you didn't know you had in it you
and you shake your head
at your own self... who knew you
were capable of such behavior?
Whatever the behavior is...

and we set out everyday on an
adventure in hopes that the space
between knowing and not will
lessen, but find that we are beholden
to the dark corners that hold
old and molding dreams
the places where we have
hidden ourselves from us
making it near impossible to know
what's next.

these words may seem drivel
but that's always the case when
one is mining the caves for
hidden treasure buried
inside your own bones.
