I don't have the skill to write it, sonnet
or the constitution to keep it up
I wonder about people who can split
their skill set into this poetic cup
I have not the patience it always takes
to think in alternate rhythm and rhyme
or the emotional space that it makes
for me to clear space for writing, and time
Even if I did, I do not know how
I would continue to write ev'ry day
how I would continue to yield and bow
to the process, no matter, come what may
This is a discipline, to write, for sure
And sticking with it is the only cure

I bow to those who can write and think in sonnet form. If I am to be a "real" poet, I will have to commit to all the possibilities. I can't do this one everyday. I'm not sure I did it this day. But once a week. First week. Promise kept.
